When I planned to propose to my girlfriend I must say that finding the perfect place was the most difficult part . I want it to be serene, romantic and obviously stunning, just the way she would want it.. I checked a lot of places outside manila from Laguna, Batangas, Puerto Galera etc . ( but easily accessible ) nothing like what I had in mind so I kept looking ... Then I came across this place called Puesto Del Sol in Calatagan. I was mesmerised by the images on their website and decided to make an enquiry where I spoke to the most accommodating and extremely approachable lady called Fe. I was given all the information I needed which gave me more reason to want the place, no hassle and straight forward transaction considering that I live outside the country. I booked the whole resort for a 3 day event. The whole preparation took about 5 months. Fe made everything possible... Assisted me in every way from catering, sleeping arrangement of the guests and preparation for the party that lasted for 3 days. Everything was smooth and things were done according to my standard..
When we got to the place I couldn't believe my eyes. it was even more spectacular than the photos! The breathtaking view from the top of Calatagan is just majestic! And the serenity of the place is topped by the astonishing beauty of the infinity pool that looks so elegant yet calm both day and night ( the lighting in the pool at night made it stood out and enhanced the beauty of the place even more). I couldn't describe it better than perfect! Simply blown us away...
The whole place is a hidden haven!! All the villas and Casitas were beautifully decorated and well- maintained. Family & friends who came to witness the proposal was stunned and captivated by the beauty of Puesto Del Sol..
The 3 day gathering was just a success! Me and my fiancée are overly joyed that we found this place to held one of the best and memorable events of our lives.
The owner Mr. Calero came by on our last day to personally greet us. He's extremely friendly, accommodating and very hospitable. There was really nothing I could flaw on our stay...
My fiancée even requested to have our wedding at Puesto Del Sol (surely Fe will help me make it happen)..
The place, the location and the people of Puesto Del Sol couldn't be more perfect! Mabuhay kayo PUESTO DEL SOL!! See you all soon!! ( CHE and Kaye)... London/ Australia

We love the place because it's secluded, clean and beautiful. Overlooking Calatagan..infinity pool is just so romantic! It's a small place good for 20 pax. If your family is looking for a venue to celebrate an event, this is perfect for you. The place is beautiful and if you are looking for privacy, nobody could here nor see you here,LOLs! . Food and price is ok. You can haggle with Aling Fely if you are here off peak.

It's definitely a getaway. The resort is not that far from Manila, we travelled for an hour and half or so, however you'd enjoy such seclusion. Resort staff are friendly and food is great. I love their pool coz its over seeing the sea. Overall, we are definitely considering this resort if we plan for another get away.

Stressed from the daily traffic grind of Metro Manila, from the tough demands and work challenges, from the exams and homework that kids face daily at school, we always look forward to a place where we can relax, recharge and be renewed...
We found just the right place for us - at Puesto Del Sol in Calatagan.
Arriving past dinner time, we were welcomed by no less than the gracious owner, Mr. Calero, who took care of us and looked at our every need. The prestine inifinity pool was very inviting hence we didnt waste any more time and immediately took a dip in its cool and clear waters.. Others opted to just lounge at the beach chair and just gaze at the stars.
By morning, you'd be surprised to see the place is truly a paradise, nestled at a hill top and yet so close to the beach. Breakfast was promptly served by its attentive and caring staff..We spent the balance of the day enjoying the pool (once again) and just relaxing our tired bodies.
Needless to say, we enjoyed our stay in that small paradise called Puesto Del Sol..
We will be back - definitely..

Puesto del Sol is a paradise nestled on the hills in Calatagan, Batangas. A simple, small, but well architectured resort with a great view of Verde Passage. An ideal place to relax and enjoy its pristine lap pool while sipping a cold glass of your favorite cocktail.
Special mention to its well accommodating and helpful staff and the owner, Rafael Calero, for being an excellent host.
Overall, I will recommend this place as an ideal getaway.
Room Tip: Any of its villas are worth paying for.

I found serenity in puesto del sol!
The place is located in Calatagan, Batangas. It's very private, Since Im a mother already I dont have time for myself anymore, I always think of my kid and my hubby and our business therefore, I'm literally stressed.. Good thing our business includes travelling.. Thank you to sheila, our business partner, she brought us in this place. The resort have 4 rooms. Luckily we where able to stay on each room but one room made me fall in love again and its the villa... Gosh its my dream space. I feel like bella in twilight and my husband is edward. And my daughter really love the restroom and the monkey. If u are keen to details you'll appreciate what Im talking about. The mask, the wood, the tiles all of it I want it in our home. No wonder why its beautiful the owner Mr. Calero is one of the best designer I've ever met. He is very accomodating. Who would forget the jagermeister (lol) the drink that he gave us which made us stay in the pool until dawn. Oh the pool, yes the pool there you go Im inlove again! That pool, I want it so bad, the warm water can make me stay there for hours. How relaxing, imagine a sunset while drinking juice then an evening while drinking wine under the moonlight and beneath all that stars. It was the only place where I saw so many shooting stars. Im so happy. This place is my serenity. I feel like a child once again. My kid Alex enjoyed her stay there too, imagine she was able to go on a night swimming with us without getting colds because of the warm water in the pool. She enjoyed the mood lights too, we where playing stop, go and warning just like a road stop light. My husband's love for the place made him hold his camera the entire time to picture us because of it scenic view. And the perfect sunset at the beach view. The place is so ideal for couples who want to spend time together. Its a romantic place indeed. So romantic that you'll wanted to get back to this place over and over again. The place & service is not perfect yet but there is always room for improvement well i think all resorts need that. As for me, puesto del sol is my simple paradise!

We just had a short time to enjoy this place, but we will be back.
The ambiance is Boracay on a hill. Close enough to Manila for a weekend getaway but Puesto del Sol feels like you are on another planet.
This is the place to take that special person and renew your relationship. Quiet and a world class view of the Verde Passage from high in the hills of Calatagan.
The lap pool is there before you providing an infinite edge to the view and a great place to cool off. Yet it is warm at night and well worth a midnight dip.
And if you are feeling energetic you can ride mountain bikes in the surrounding hills or go down to the beach at Sunrise Cove and kayak to the remote beaches. The snorkeling over long shallow coral reefs will take you again to another planet.
Reading other reviews I see that there may have been some staff and booking problems in the past. Happily we did not experience any such problems.
So just do it. You won't be sorry.
Room Tip: The little villa on the south side is made for lovers.

Took this this trip with close friends and finalized the booking despite the negative reviews we read about it. We figured, "what the heck, we are adventurous travelers anyway." Going there was a pleasant experience taking the road via Cavitex, thru Ternate, Cavite, and all the way to the scenic new roads leading to Nasugbu, Batangas. It made us feel "blessed" having experienced the new road not too many have tried yet.
Upon arriving The resort, we were greeted by courteous and accommodating staff complete with a cool welcome drink to ease our thirst from the journey. Even the head/owner, Mr. Rafael Calero was there to give us a short but informative orientation about the place and other places of interest in Calatagan. Contrary to the other reviews we read, we were given a grand welcome.
After the pleasantries, The staff led us to our assigned accommodation, Villa Cecilia. A spacious and cozy Villa that can sleep a family of eight. This nice modern inspired villa has its own dining and kitchen area in case you want to cook your own food, with a little extra corkage fee, of course.
After settling in and taking a breather, we enjoyed the nice infinity lap pool, with its breath taking scenic view of the sea. Just to describe it, it is a 180 degree view fronting the verde passage with Mindoro and Lubang island up front. I would say, it's just sooo relaxing.
By standards, the food is up to par and the price is reasonable. There is ample choice in the menu for pork and chicken dishes plus the "catch of the day" seafood treat. We tried almost all the dishes during our overnight stay and I could say it is not bad especially the roasted chicken and grilled tiger prawns with herbs, kudos to the Chef! We mostly enjoyed dinner at the view deck.
Come dawn the following morning, we were brought to a nice rustic beach resort called Sunrise Cove, just 15minutes drive from Puesto, for some snorkeling and kayak Adventure. The private and secluded cove of this resort plus its rustic ambiance is perfect for beach lovers. The coral reef in this side of the cape is so alive and preserved for guests to enjoy.
Overall, our stay in Puesto del Sol was a trip to remember. The resort is perfect as a "Scenic Paradise," which we will highly recommend to other people. The staff and service is very good coupled by the nice ambiance and nice villas it offered; not to mention the good food they serve.
Till we return, keep up the good work!

It's always nice to discover a new resort. I make it to a point that everytime summer comes, or whenever i plan my vacation, i see to it that i will go to a place that i wanna try and discover.
Puesto del sol did not disappoint. I was with my girlfriend last weekend and we really had an awesome time.
I've been in and out of Nasugbu for a couple times since me and my family would always go to Canyon Cove. It's my first time to drive ourselves to Calatagan. The anticipation of finding out where the resort is was quite frustrating for me since i was driving in an unfamiliar road. (Or maybe we were just too excited.)
It was a good idea that i brought an SUV. The road was a bit tough since the resort is situated on top of a hill. We were quite doubtful as to what the resort will look like (if it's close to the images on their website) since the road was rough and uphill. But the resort did not disappoint. As soon as we saw the signs and were able to park my car nicely, we were welcomed with a nice view and a very welcoming staff. It's as if everyone wanted to say hi to us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rowena and all of their staff who have been very good and accommodating to us!
We were excited as to where our room will be especially the bathroom. We are a huge fan of NICE bathrooms. I see to it that the bathroom that we will be having will have a nice design, clean and spacious. We were so glad that we got what we paid for. There's even a nice patio outside our room with a great view of the trees. There's even a monkey there! (Although i must admit, i felt bad for the monkey since he was chained on his behind.)
After resting, we opted to stay on the pool area and discover what else does the resort can offer. There's one room that i like there which was near a nicely designed kitchen were you can cook to your heart's content. We automatically thought of our friends who would love to experience what we were experiencing. And did i mention the view? I really loved the view where you can see the sunset. That was fantastic!
There were some minor issues that we saw. One is the grass. It would've been nice if they've cut the grass. It was already long and needs some cleaning. The menu was mediocre. If you choose to stay here, better buy food outside where you can cook it there. We forgot to buy water but it was okay. You can just ask them and its for free. I hope they can do something about the road. Make sure there's no storm or rain when you go here. Your car will definitely have a hard time going up. And better bring an SUV unless you're a one heck of a driver where you can get your sedan uphill.
As for the beach, which is 5 mins away, we were sad as to what we saw. Since its rainy season, the beach was not clean due to the leaves that were scattered all over the water. There was actually a kubo floating on the shore. We would've loved to swim over there its just that going IN the water was an issue for us so we opted to go back to the resort.
This resort is highly recommended for couples who want to get away and have some private time. We were the only ones checked-in and a family of 5.
I've seen a lot of bad reviews and i do feel bad for them. But i can only speak for our experience. And we had a really great time. Thank you Rafael for the hospitality!

Every time I travel either north or south, there is always that adventure thought clinging over me to discover new places. One of my discover is Puesto Del Sol in Calatagan. There is always that adventure type if you want not the usual resort that is too typical but exciting. After all, its the destination that counts after that long drive. Going there wasn't as hard as it seems. Few straight and narrow road, blazing trails that definitely worth taking. (If your not the boring type who wants something for an experience that it.) After arriving at the site, I could really do some dip at the big pool. The water seems very warm at night so its really good for a night swim. They have the Casitas that will fit a family for that quick get away from stress at the Metro or if your planning a very intimate stay that elevates that experience, you can choose the Villas. This place is very good for family and couples that simply wanting to experience quiet place close to nature. I suggest that you go there before sunset to experience the golden sun as it sets far horizon. I had been going from resorts here and there and I can say this place is very promising. I would look forward going back to the place.
Room Tip: Villas are best for me.

Here’s one feeling I always have when I leave the city, I find myself clamoring to go back after no more than a day.
It doesn’t matter where I go, even if it was in Boracay, I find that the idyllic pace just do not mesh well with my apparent need for a good amount of chaos.
Which is why when I booked this trip to Puesto del Sol, it was just for no more than 2 days. I needed some time away from everything, from my life, and maybe time spent in this quaint villa will be just what I need.
In true fashion at this time of the year, the weather is just not your friend. The humidity is just overwhelming. By the time we got to Puesto, I was just about ready to do away with pleasantries if possible and immediately head to the room and crank up the A/C.
That was quickly forgotten, however, because when we turned and scanned the place, it was just… lush and breathtaking. Seriously, the positioning of the villa is just spot on, overlooking the mountain side and the beach.
The owner of the place, Rafael Calero, happened to be around and welcomed us. Apparently, the guy goes there every weekend. And really who wouldn’t want to? If I had this little piece of heaven, and if I can fly, I’d do so everyday.
It was just all quite serene and resplendent.
And for one who has little appreciation for the quiet, I was fast having a change of heart.
We’re even more of happy campers when Euri, the manager of the place, showed us to our villa (or was it a casita?). For those two days, we claimed ownership. lol. And why wouldn’t we? The space is really nice. Cozy and inviting with tastefully designed interiors. The outside sitting room adjacent to it is a nice touch too.
The afternoon was time well spent, a quick trip to a nearby beach and the nearby lighthouse. Euri informed us that we all but need to inform them and they will arrange the ride. Rafael had free time in the afternoon and was kind enough to take us to Cape Santiago lighthouse for sight seeing.
As expected, rustic and the right kind of old that I am quite endeared to. Made me miss of Baluarte de San Diego in Intramuros. I wouldn’t care much for the twirling steps though. ‘See, I’m not much of a fan of enclosed spaces. Especially one that goes round and round. Twas quite nice at the top though. A few nice properties were spread out around the area which made me question again what our dear government is doing with our taxes. Some names are quite resounding y’see.
It was starting to drizzle though so we headed back to Puesto. Rafael asked us where we would like to have our dinner and that if we wanted to, he can have it arranged by the view deck. I think that more than sold it.
While waiting for dinner, Krista and I just laid back and just talked ourselves out. Hm. We both needed the talk I’d say. One year after leaving our thriving careers to pursue and seek our passion is not as awesome as most people paint it to be.
Whimsy enough, I said that I wouldn’t mind going home to a place like this everyday. Tiring work day, head out to the deck with your drink, lay back and just gaze at the stars. Being in the city for almost every day, these little things just tend to escape you.
After our delish dinner, by the way loved that chicken soup, we were ready to hit the hay. And the privacy of our villa is quite fitting for the day that we had. One of the best sleeps I had in a while.
If the ambience in the afternoon was good, the morning was even better. That nice dewy mountain scent and slightly breezy morning air was quite the perfect combo for the much needed morning swim. It was capped quite nicely when our breakfast was served by the pool area.
I swear, I found saying to Krista that this is the first time in a very long while I really wanted to stay quite longer. However, we did have to go back as we had prior engagements. Ugh, why.
It was definitely one of the best escapes I’ve had for some time. The staff were all quite accommodating, the owner even more and the place is just absolutely beautiful. Seriously, I need to start revamping my adjectives for much better descript.
Puesto del Sol is just the perfect place to go to when you need the time away from Manila. Krista and I are already planning to back before she leaves for Kuwait. :)

“Wonderful stay at Puesto del sol!”

We have a wonderful stay at Puesto del sol. This is a new resort in Calatagan Batangas on top of the hill, the view around the resort is amazing. We didn't have the hard time going there because signboards were all over the main road. A few minutes to Cape Santiago Lighthouse and as well to beaches around Calatagan. They recommend Caisip beach which is about 2 minutes but we stick with our itinerary we went to Burot beach about 10 minutes away only. The staffs are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. They are the best staff I have encountered so far. You can bring your food and cook/grill in their kitchen outside. They have pugon where you can make your own pizza. They serve food as well but of course you have to pay extra. A Bali inspired resort, the whole interior of the resort is really beautiful. The kids have fun playing with the monkey pet of the resort. The room we stayed was big enough for us, the air conditioner was working well, mattresses were soft, no towels provided so better bring your own. Breakfasts served the other day were the usual but enough to feed 6 people. The pool is really nice specially during sunset and at night time. One thing that was disappointing during our stay was they don't have wifi connection in our room only in the dining area/lobby area which we found out only after checking out. I don't see any downside of the resort anymore since it's new and you can really tell because of some constructions going on and the staff said there are plans and improvements in the future. I can not wait for us to go back and see Puesto del sol after the constructions and plans!! Over all we have a wonderful experience at Puesto del sol. Two thumps up for the lovely staffs!!
Room Tip: Duplex rooms good for family and friends, while the casitas are romantic best for couples.

“Beautiful Family Resort”

Puesto del Sol is roughly 2 hours away from Sta. Rosa. We stayed there last April 28, 2014 and since then, we cannot help ourselves but to look forward to another meaningful escape. Kids will catch us packing our things and will just announce to them at the very last minute that we will visit Puesto del Sol (again and again)! The resort is very intimate and serene. They have 4 beautiful villas to choose from. The villa was clean and convenient. Casita A or B is where we usually stay. It is fully air-conditioned and would fit 4 -8 adults. Our kids would go up and down the bunk bed and wrestle on the floor for pillow fights.
At first, we would bring with us all our kitchen must-haves from knives, to plate to glasses. But as we familiarize ourselves along the way, we learned to borrow from their kitchen staff. Very friendly, helpful and pleasant indeed.
We haven’t tried their Casa Isabel and Cecilia but we are fortunate to peek into these rooms. Check our photos!
We utilized their infinity lap pool on a daily basis! Water is warm even at night! Sunbrellas are always available! We also had a wonderful experience with the sunset! As we prepare ourselves for a picture perfect sunset inside the pool, we were stunned to see such a beautiful yellowish, red orange sun all set to draw an amazing backdrop behind us. Yes it was awesome! If you are looking for a beach, the resort is only 5 mins. away!
This is a wonderful resort to stay at and we all had a wonderful time. It was like home away from home! Ideal for wedding receptions, team building, company outing (max of 30pax). They also have tents for rent which is good for 8-10pax!
Btw, the rates are very competitive! They have an ongoing deal with Ensogo for their Casitas at a very affordable price good for 4 pax!
Room Tip: They only have 4 Villas and I suggest check first which one suits your preferences. Casitas is good...
